This is a basic white parmesan sauce recipe that involves normal ingredients and can be mixed up in many ways!
1 bag frozen brocolli
8 oz noodles (4-5 cups uncooked spiral or penne?)
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
1 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup milk (I use whole)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
3/4 cup parmesan cheese
salt and pepper to taste
*chili powder, if you're feeling like a fun kick!
Cook noodles as normal. Add broccoli to boiling noodle water during last few minutes of noodle cooking time. Drain when done.
Meanwhile, melt butter, whisk in flour to make roux. Gradually whisk in chicken broth, then milk (gradually!). Mix in garlic powder, salt, pepper, and chili powder. Add to noodles and broccoli and combine.
Also, try adding other vegetables like peppers, tomatoes, and squash. This would also be great with some grilled chicken.
