Baking Powder Biscuits

Bake at 450°

1 3/4 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
4-6 tablespoons soft butter
3/4 cup milk

Sift together dry ingredients.  Use a pastry cutter or fork to add butter in sections until mixture is grainy.  Make a well in the center of the mixture and add milk all at once.  Stir until the dough is fairly free from the sides of the bowl.  Turn the dough onto a lightly floured board.  Knead gently and quickly, making about eight to ten folds.  Roll with a lightly floured rolling pin, until the dough has the desired thickness.  Cut with a cutter dipped in flour.  Brush the tops with milk or butter.  Place on ungreased baking sheet, and bake for 12-15 minutes.

Make 8 biscuits-just enough for 1 1/2 teenage boys.

I loved these growing up!  My dad use to work as a baker, and I loved when he made these.  These are definitely best served with a load of butter and with hot eggs! YUM!
